MA students interested in joining a Ph.D. receive advisement from the Director of Graduate Studies in Madrid and other NYU in Madrid faculty, and also have the opportunity to discuss their applications with visiting faculty from New York.
Other alumni continue their postgraduate education, applying their Spanish language and cultural competence in Masters or professional training in fields as diverse as social work, nursing, business studies and translation.
Each year a number of alumni return to the United States to teach Spanish in private and public high schools, community colleges or universities.
The destinations of other alumni are as varied as the interests of our student body. In recent years alumni have gone on to work in translating, publishing and marketing.
Some alumni choose to remain in Spain for a shorter or longer period, in most cases taking advantage of the opportunities that exist to work as English Language Assistants in bilingual elementary and high schools, often supplemented by work as teachers or translators.
NYU in Madrid does not have a career service. However, all MA students may receive e-mail advisement from the NYU’s Office of Career Services in New York. Students and alumni are also informed of work and study opportunities that arise in Madrid, and encouraged to join Conéctate, an informal network of alumni and other young professionals in the city to share information and social and professional contacts.
